The West Public Library is home to over 37,000 books available for checkout to all citizens of West and the surrounding area.  The library opened its current location in 1989 after the local community raised half of the costs through various fundraisers matching the other half of the costs provided by the City of West.  The current FREE services the public library offers are:

  • 37,000 books in inventory (with ability to checkout books from Waco Public Library)
  • Audio books available for checkout
  • LARGE print books available for checkout
  • Free computers with wireless internet access
  • DVD and VHS available for checkout
  • Microfiche (All West News issues starting in 1910)
  • Book exchange (bring in your own paperback books to exchange)
  • Display of historical artifacts of the surrounding area
  • Excellent Genealogy collection
  • **NEW eBooks available here.

Paid services include:

  • Copy/Fax services for a small fee (small quantities only)
  • Room available for rent for baby/bridal showers, birthday parties, etc. ($50)

 

Some of the activities at the library include:

  • Book Club – meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:30 AM
  • Story Time (Tale-Tellers) – All student/volunteer driven team that reads and provides other activities for the surrounding youth. Please check calendar for schedule.
  • Senior Ladies exercise ($1/day)
  • AA meetings on every Tuesday and Friday at 7PM
