The West City Council has approved an emergency order, due to the “Shelter-in-Place” mandates, to provide Free Meals to West seniors 65 years and older that live inside the West city limits.  This program will start Monday April 13th, 2020.  The Mission/Goal is to provide a Hot Meal to those that do not already have a support system in place such as family or Meals on Wheels etc.

The lunch meals will be purchased by the City of West from Czech-American, Two Amigo’s and Pizza House.  The number of meals to be provided for the day will be called in at 9:00 a.m.  Delivery drivers will pick up meals and make deliveries between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  Delivery days will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Delivery drivers will knock on your door and then leave the plates outside, preferably on some sort of table or stand, to eliminate any unnecessary interaction.  The driver may wait by the curb to make sure the meal is received and that the senior is ok.

Not all our seniors are active on social media.  Please help us spread the word to your friends and neighbors that may be eligible for the program.  Those wanting to sign up for the program can call West City Hall at (254) 826-5351.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP DELIVER MEALS.  Any person or organization that would like to help deliver these meals can also call the same number listed and request to be a delivery driver.  This program will continue for 3 weeks or until the event is over.  Once a senior is signed up meals will be delivered on the days mentioned or until they call to cancel.  Delivery can be cancelled by calling the same number.

There will be a maximum of 2 meals per household delivered unless there are special circumstances which can be considered.  No special dietary meal request will be accepted.
